Mark Van Roekel
Mark Van Roekel has been the director of Garden Chapel Funeral Homes since 2007. Born and raised in Pella, Mark is honored to be helping the families he has known from childhood through one of the most difficult of life's experiences.
Mark graduated from Pella High School and then attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he received a bachelor's degree in biology. He attended Des Moines Area Community College to obtain his mortuary science endorsement.
Mark teaches microbiology and pathology for the mortuary science program at Des Moines Area Community College. He is also a member of the Kiwanis Board, the Pella Golf and Country Club Board, and the Pella Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors. Mark's wife, Angela, is currently the art teacher at Lincoln Elementary and stays busy with her artwork. Mark and Angela recently welcomed their son, Henry, into the family and are enjoying watching him grow.
Mark and Angela lead a small group from their church in a Bible study. In their free time, they enjoy walking, golfing, camping, and being with family and friends. They also love watching area athletic teams and were honored to receive the Sportsmanship Award for 2010.
