Lewis Lafayette Lundy, 70, of Montezuma, Iowa died of complications of a stroke, at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella on Thursday, December 30, 2004.

The son of Harry and Eleanor (Drennan) Lundy, he was born on February 2, 1934 at New Sharon, Iowa. He graduated from New Sharon High School and Central College of Pella. On October 22, 1955, he was united in marriage with Delores Wassink Presbyterian Church in New Sharon, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Chan, Laine, and Lisa.

Upon graduation from Central College, Lew was hired to teach and coach at Freemont Community School. Two years later, he was hired to teach and coach in the Montezuma Community School. He taught and coached five years, was vice-principal six years, high school principal three years, and superintendent for eighteen years. He earned his Masters at Drake University, Specialist in Education from Iowa State University, and did post-graduate work in education at the University of Denver in Colorado. Working with faculty and staff to promote education and development of young people, was a life-time goal he and Delores shared.

He also served on the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Board and was an Administrator Award Recipient by the Iowa Boys High School Athletic Association.

Lew was married to Delores for forty-seven years, until she died in April 2002. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Lew was a multi-sport athlete who enjoyed athletic events. In his retirement years, he especially enjoyed watching and following his grandchildren to their athletic and school events.
