Lester Raymond Elscott, 75, of Pella, Iowa died November 24, 2004, at the Pella Regional Health Center. Lester was born February 9, 1929, in Taintor, Iowa, the son of Guy and Rena Terpstra Elscott.

Lester served in the United States Army for two years, where he was stationed in Japan during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal in 1953. On March 22, 1958, Lester married Marilyn Visser and they moved to Pella where they have lived ever since. Lester accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of thirteen and was a charter member of the Pella Church of the Nazarene. Lester was a farmer and raised livestock. He was a loving father and grandfather and a devoted Christian whose kind heart and gentle manner endeared him to all who had the good fortune to know him.

Lester is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their son, Norman of Knoxville; and their two daughters and their husbands: Norma and Melvin Pierce of Pella and LaDonna and Mark Raddant of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren: Dustin, Tasha and Amanda Pierce and Paul, Kayla and Andy Raddant. Lester is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Dorothy (Glen) Renaud and Betty (Henry) Rozenboom; and an infant son, Dale Allen Elscott.
