Jean E. Olivier
Jean Eleanor Cornelius, daughter of Jacob Earl and Vida Mareen Reeves Cornelius, was born November 22, 1923, in Pella, Iowa. She passed away at the Pella Regional Health Center Sunday, December 5, 2004, at the age of eighty-one years. On November 22, 1942, Jean was united in marriage with Edward Lester Olivier at the Church of the Open Bible in Pella. Jean was employed at Pella Rolscreen for thirty-six years, working in the folding door and window packing departments. She retired January 1, 1988. She attended Pella High School, completing the 10th grade. She was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Pella and was a member of the Senior Saints at her church. She was also a member of the Chairman's Club at Pella Corporation and a member of the Legion Auxillary. Jean enjoyed the Rathbun Country Music Shows, gospel singing, playing the piano, guitar and accordion, Tulip Time and the Iowa State Fair. She also enjoyed taking lots of pictures while vacationing and camping. Her favorite foods were mashed potatoes, George's sausage pizza, and chicken at the Maid-Rite in Monroe. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She told everyone she met about her family and always had pictures in hand. She was a very giving person and was generous with giving gifts to the special people in her life. A very special part of her life was her dog and kittens. Jean is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Edward of Knoxville; one son and his wife, Kenneth Lee and Mary Olivier of Pella; one daughter and her husband, Karen Jean and Robert Wales of Bussey; six grandchildren: Barbara Simmons, Brian Wales, Rhonda Weldon, Duane Olivier, Chris Olivier, and Perry Olivier; eight great-grandchildren: Ashley Felts, Stephanie and Heather Simmons, Jessica and Taylor Weldon, Jessica, Kiah and Abigail Olivier. She was preceded in death by her parents; a half brother, Ira Earl Cornelius; a half sister, Irene Methany; and a grandson, Mark Wayne |
