MEMORIAL SERVICE 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, December 14, 2004 Garden Chapel Funeral Home Pella, Iowa VISITATION Family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Monday Garden Chapel Funeral Home Pella, Iowa Ralph "Pinkie" Olson Ralph Edward Olson, son of Axel Rudolph and Tressa Mae Reynolds Olson, was born July 4, 1920, near Agrshire, Iowa. He passed away the evening of December 10, 2004, at the Pella Regional Health Center at the age of eighty-four years. Ralph attended various schools in the Agrshire area before graduating from eighth grade. At the age of seventeen he went to CCC Camp for eighteen months. He then worked for Hersom Construction Company until he was drafted into the army in World War II. He served for three and one-half years, spending two years in Europe. Upon returning home he went back into construction and worked most of his years for Roth and Associates. He was foreman for many churches, swimming pools, banks, and schools in northwest Iowa as well as many in the Pella area. He also worked for a period of time at Pella Corporation. He moved to Pella in 1957 for the remainder of his working years and was still residing there at the time of his death. On November 25, 1946, Ralph was united in marriage with Evelyn Marie Svejda. To this union five children were born: Randolph, who died in an auto accident March 23, 1968, Dianna, Daniel, Richard, and Edward. He was of Methodist faith and a member of the American Legion Post of Pella. Ralph will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He devoted his life to his family and loved to spend time with his grandchildren, often taking them fishing. He is survived by his wife and four children; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Ruth Mullen of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Luetta LaVonne Bell of Laurens, Iowa, and Shirley Waters of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Randolph; his brother, Darrell Olson; and two sisters, Josephine Mae Campbell and Betty Christensen. |
