Edward Lester Olivier, son of Peter and Hendrika Van Heukelom Olivier, was born July 27, 1921, in Richland Township, Mahaska County.

On November 22, 1942, Edward was united in marriage with Jean Eleanor Cornelius at the Church of the Open Bible in Pella. Edward farmed prior to working seven years at Rural Electric. He worked for the Marion County Road Department for thirty-seven years as a dragline operator. At that job he also hauled rock, built bridges, filled trucks with rock or dirt, and helped with snow removal for the county. He retired in 1986.

He was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Pella where he was an active member of the Senior Saints. Edward is survived by one son and his wife, Kenneth Lee and Mary Olivier of Pella; one daughter and her husband, Karen Jean and Robert Wales of Bussey; six grandchildren: Barbara Simmons, Brian Wales, Rhonda Weldon, Duane Olivier, Chris Olivier, and Perry Olivier; eight great-grandchildren: Ashley Felts, Stephanie and Heather Simmons, Jessica and Taylor Weldon, Jessica, Kiah and Abigail Olivier; three sisters: Tena Van Rees of Pella, Margaret Langstraat and Josephine Sytsma of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; two brothers: Richard and John Olivier; two sisters: Gertrude Veenendaal and Bertha Uitermarkt; and a grandson, Mark Wayne Wales.
