Dorothy Meindersma

Dorothy Meindersma was born October 24, 1921, in Marion County, south of Monroe, Iowa, to William and Dena (Schippers) Meindersma. She passed away at the Westridge Nursing & Rehab Center in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, May 14, at the age of eighty-three years.

Dorothy completed the eighth grade and then began her life career as caregiver for the elderly. She worked with individuals as well as care facilities in Minnesota, Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Fair Haven in Pella. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and playing Bingo.

She became a resident at the Westridge Nursing Center in Knoxville on February 22, 2002, where she remained until her death.

Dorothy is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dena Meindersma; two brothers, Pete and Arnold Meindersma; and four sisters: Marie Heemsbergen, Fanny Dop, Joezina Uitermarkt, and Margaret Meindersma.
