Peter Bogaards
Peter A. Bogaards, son of Peter Adrian and Gertie W. Roorda Bogaards, was born December 13, 1919, at the home of his parents in Pella, Iowa. He passed away in that same home on July 15, 2005, attaining the age of eighty-five years, seven months, and two days.
On March 28, 1946 Peter was united in marriage with Jennie Kamerick at the First Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Pella. To this union five children were born: Peter John, Randol, Peter Douglas, June, and Joy.
Peter spent his lifetime farming. After he completed the fifth grade, he began helping out on the farm. He enjoyed camping, traveling, being with his family, and teaching his grandchildren the Dutch language. He was currently a member of the First Baptist Church in Pella.
Peter is survived by his wife, Jennie; his four children and their spouses: Randol and Joyce Bogaards, Peter Douglas and Katherine Bogaards, June and Ken Hoksbergen, Joy and Merlin Kooistra, all of Pella; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Peter John; three brothers: Andy, Abe, and Les Bogaards; five sisters: Josie Klein, Dora Rozenboom, Bessie Mathes, Florence Tukker, and Gertrude Mathes.
