Estellene De Jong

Estellene De Jong, daughter of Henry and Maggie (Vander Veer) Visser, was born November 20, 1925, in Marion County, Iowa.  She passed away at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon, January 25, 2006, at the age of eighty years.

Estellene attended Pella Community High School where she completed the twelfth grade.  After graduation she worked at the VA Hospital and the Pella Rolscreen Company.  On February 14, 1952, Estellene was united in marriage with Dick De Jong at the First Baptist Church in Pella.  To this union two children were born:  Gary and Elaine.  For many years Dick and Estellene farmed in the Otley and Prairie City areas.

Dick passed away on November 24, 1972.  A few years later Estellene moved to Pella where she was employed in the laundry department of the Pella Regional Health Center.  She enjoyed going to garage sales, clipping coupons, and visiting with people.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pella where she served as a Deaconess.

She is survived by her two children:  Gary De Jong of Pella and Elaine (Erwin) Usher of Prairie City.  She also leaves one sister, Johanna (Charles) Manges of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers: Babe, John, and Laverne Visser; one sister: Wilma Trager; and seven infant siblings.

Estellene will  be remembered as a loving wife,  mother, and sister.  Those she left will always cherish the many memories she made in her life-time.
