Gladys S. Strout

Gladys S. Morris Strout, daughter of Peter and Olympia Di Lorenzo Morris, was born March 18, 1936, in Pearl River, New York. She passed away at the Westridge Care Center in Knoxville, Iowa, on Sunday, July 23, 2006, at the age of seventy years.

Glady began her office assistant career by attending secretarial school in New York City. When the family moved from River Vale, New Jersey, to Pella, Iowa, she began working at Central College as an administrative assistant in the Student Support Services, Counseling, and Upward Bound offices. She was a faithful and loyal employee for over twenty years.

She was an active member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella. She volunteered for Hospice, was a member of Pella Business Women, and Welcome Wagon. She enjoyed writing letters, playing the organ, emailing friends and relatives, watching TV, doing crafts, and playing the guitar.

Those left to honor her memory are her four children: Dawn Falone and her husband, Mario, of Glen Rock, New Jersey, Dorothea Puyear and her husband, Randy, of Pella, Iowa, Jeffrey Strout of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Chris Strout and his wife, Julia, of Oskaloosa, Iowa; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothea Celeste of Toms River, New Jersey.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and one granddaughter, Christina Falone.

Glady will always be remembered for her great sense of humor and her boundless energy. She had a special friendly smile that will be missed by all who knew her.
