Open Bible Church - Pella

Carroll Vernon Elscott, son of Guysbert (Guy) and Rena Terpstra Elscott, was born September 8, 1923, near Taintor, Iowa at home. He passed away at the Pella Hospice Comfort House on Thursday, October 12, 2006.

On January 22, 1947, Carroll was united in marriage with Esther M. Mol at her home Pella, Iowa. Carroll worked as the manager of the Pella locker in their first year of marriage. To this union two children were born: Brent and Rita. The family lived on the Elscott farm near Lynnville, which Carroll and Esther farmed together for nearly fifty-five years. In 2001 Carroll and Esther retired to Pella.

Carroll and Esther are current members of the Open Bible Church in Pella. Carroll was a member of the Poweshiek County Conservation Board, member of the Taintor Coop Board, and served as Poweshiek County Trustee

He proudly served his country as part of the 17th infantry division in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Korea. He was a member of the American Legion.

His greatest joy was his family! He also loved having morning coffee time with family, taking trips out to the farm, and listening to southern gospel music.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Esther of nearly sixty years; his son and wife, Brent and Vicki Elscott of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; his daughter and husband, Rita and Len Green of Grant City, Missouri; and his five grandchildren: Joel and Sarah Elscott, Micah Green, Cody Green, and Breanna Elscott. Also surviving are: a sister-in-law, Marilyn Elscott of Pella; a brother-in-law, Henry Rozenboom of Sully; and several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Lester Elscott; and two sisters: Dorothy Renaud and Betty Rozenboom
