Video Tribute In Memory Of DIED FUNERAL SERVICES VISITATION After 4:00 P.M., Thursday, October 26, 2006 MEMORIALS Bernard De Zwarte Bernard Murray De Zwarte, son of Marinus J. and Maggie (Goemaat) De Zwarte, was born September 21, 1917, in Pella, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday morning, October 24, 2006, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell, Iowa. Bernard received his education at the Reiter Country School in southern Jasper County. As a young man, he worked as a hired hand for local area farmers. On February 1, 1940, he was united in marriage with Wilma Dunsbergen at her parents' home in Jasper County. To this union three children were born: Carroll Dwayne, Linda Lou, and Glen Murray. The family farmed south of Kellogg for sixty-six years. They enjoyed and took pride in their farmland where they raised crops and livestock. Bernard was an active member of the First Reformed Church in Sully where he served as Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed spending time with his family, church activities, and farming. Bernard is survived by Wilma, his wife of sixty-six years; three children and their spouses; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marjorie Van Genderen of Sully and Reva Van Wyk of Searsboro; and two brothers-in-law: Ben Dunsbergen of Newton and Bob Dunsbergen of Sully. Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Leona Van Manen; three brothers-in-law: John Van Manen, Paul Van Genderen, and Clarence Van Wyk; also his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Nellie and Everett Jansen; sisters-in-law, Margaret Dunsbergen and Anna Mae Dunsbergen. Bernard stood as a man of integrity who kept his word and stood for strong spiritual values. As a father he will be remembered for instilling a sincere faith in Jesus Christ from our earliest remembrances. Bernard's family: Wilma Alice Dunsbergen De Zwarte
