Art Sneller was born near Monroe, Iowa, on April 5, 1930. He weighed only two pounds, small enough to fit in a shoe box. He was the youngest of six children, four brothers and one sister. He attended school in Colfax where he completed the eighth grade. After he finished school he went to work for his brother, Henry, for a few years and then worked for a family friend on the farm. He was working for Edwin Vander Ploeg when, at the age of twenty, he met Marjorie Klyn in Pella. They married January 5, 1951, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

Their first home was in Otley. While living there, their son Allen was born in 1953. Art worked at the Otley Co-op for a short time and then became employed in the window department at the Pella Rolscreen Company. He also did carpet and furniture cleaning on the side through Duraclean International. Art and Marjorie moved into Pella when Allen was one year old. Their daughter, Mary, was born in 1957 and another daughter, Brenda, in 1962. After forty-two years of employment, Art retired in April, 1995. During that time he attained several years of perfect attendance.

Art passed away at the Pella Regional Health Center-Long Term Care on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the age of seventy-nine.

Art was a member of the Covenant Reformed Church in Pella. His favorite pastime was refurbishing his John Deere tractor with his son. He was also a member of the Red Rock Threshers. He enjoyed bowling, participating in various bowling leagues and working at the bowling alley in Pella for several years.

Art was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to babysit them, feed them ice cream, and watch cartoons with them. Art liked to keep busy and help people.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his three children: Allen (Doreen) Sneller of Indianola; Mary (Calvin) Van Haaften of Pella, and Brenda (Roger) Witzenburg of Pella; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Labertha Vander Schel of Newton: sister-in-law, Bernice (Tootie) Sneller of Pella; his brothers-in-law: Arthur Klyn, Raymond (Lois) Klyn, Marion (Glenda) Klyn, Sidney (Mary) Klyn, Lawrence (Valda) Klyn, Lester (Linda) Klyn all of Pella, John (Lois) Klyn of New Sharon, Marvin (Phyllis) Klyn of Michigan; his sister-in-law, Sylvia Langstraat of Pella. and a host of relatives and friends.

Art was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Marjorie on January 7, 2010; brothers: Jacob Sneller, Hank (Doretha) Sneller, Rick (Cora) Sneller, and Gerrit (Annabell) Sneller, and brother-in-law, Cyrus Vander Schel.
