Ira Hansen, 50, of Pella, died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at the Pella Hospice Comfort House in Pella. He was born November 20, 1961, at Osage, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Velora McFarland Hansen. Early on he worked as a carpenter. In 1977, he moved to Pella and went to work for the City of Pella. Ira moved to South Dakota and worked for Twin City Fans. He later moved back to Pella and began working for Mobile Electronics where he was currently employed. He enjoyed fishing, sitting outdoors, grilling, and going to the sprint car races in Knoxville. He delighted in spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son Terry Hansen of Pella; his daughter, Danelle Hermanson of St. Ansgar, Iowa; a step daughter, Kassie Van Wyk of Des Moines; four sisters, Carrie (Albert) Leeman of Volga, South Dakota, Linda (Geno) LaChappelle of Mona, Iowa, Veleta Mausehund of Wesley, Iowa, and Donna Bruggeman of Plymouth, Iowa; a brother, Edward (Wendy) Hansen of St. Ansgar, Iowa; and a special friend, Patti Bennington of Pella.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Terry and Leon Hansen; and a sister, Loree Hansen.
As was Ira's wish his body has been cremated. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
