Brent Allen Bartels was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on August 8, 1967, to Dr. Ronald Bartels and Betty (Mones) Dannen.
Brent attended South Sioux City Community Schools, graduated from high school in 1986, and earned his degree in Electrical Engineering in 1990 from South Dakota State University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was proud to serve for five years at Fort Riley, Kansas, attaining the rank of Captain.
He was united in marriage to Beth Evans on July 11, 1995, in Rapid City, South Dakota. To this union they were blessed with two children: Bailey and Ben.
Brent worked for Vermeer Manufacturing as an Electrical Engineer for 24 years. He liked spending time outdoors with Beth, Bailey and Ben, whether it was hunting, fishing, kayaking, or simply walking around Lake Red Rock. He also enjoyed duck hunting with Jeff, his brother, and Karl, his cousin. During football season, he enjoyed cheering for various college teams and the Dallas Cowboys. Brent enjoyed working with Ben on the Jeep and in Boy Scouts, helping him achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He will always be remembered for singing the wrong lyrics to his favorite songs. Brent had a great sense of humor and loved teasing and playing jokes on those around him. He had a very caring heart and loved helping his neighbors, family, and friends.
