Frances was born April 15, 1915, in the city of Giesendam, province of South Holland, Netherlands. She was the second of three children born to Cornelius “Case” and Lyntje Baardman Koorevaar Ver Heul. Her mother, Lyntje, had three children by a previous marriage: Marie, Irene and Arie Koorevaar. Fran immigrated to the United States with her parents, brother and sister in 1920 and settled in Pella, Iowa. Fran attended Pella Christian Grade School, where she graduated from the eighth grade. After graduating she did housekeeping and later worked at the Rolscreen Company now known as Pella Corp. She passed away on December 14, 2017, at the Oskaloosa Care Center.
She was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella her entire life and was active in the Ladies Society. Fran was very quiet about her faith but her love for God was deep. Fran enjoyed spending time with her friends, traveling and playing cards. Some of Fran’s favorite trips were to visit her birthplace in Holland, sightseeing in Washington and going to Guam in 1992. She and her sister Johanna were the best of friends and loved swimming and going to garage sales. She really enjoyed her nieces and nephews, and her great nieces and nephews and spending time with all of them. Fran was known to pull pranks and was a jokester but she was always friendly and people loved her!
