Jacob J. “Jerry” Tschetter, was born July 8, 1948, in Huron, South Dakota, to Paul and Mary J. (Hofer) Tschetter. He passed away October 19, 2017, at the Comfort House in Pella.
Jerry graduated from James Valley Christian High School in Huron, South Dakota, and attended Vennard College in University Park, Iowa. He met Lola Vander Schel at Vennard College and they were married at the Capital Heights Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 16, 1968. To this union they were blessed with three children: Jared, Jeremy and Leisha.
Jerry worked as a Vigortone Feed salesman for many years and became a Snap-On franchisee in 1990. He had a love of hot rods and street rods from an early age, and was an announcer for drag races for many years until he started racing his own Mustang. He enjoyed his miniature schnauzers, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids! Jerry was a man with a big heart who never knew a stranger, and shared his love of God with everyone. He was an active member of Oskaloosa Nazarene Church and most recently has been attending Federated Fellowship Church in Pella.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Lola, and their children: Jared and Brittny Tschetter of Pella, and their children Hannah, Evan, Aidan and Levi; Jeremy Tschetter and his fiancée Bobbie Comer of Fremont, Iowa, and their children Levi and Annabelle; and Leisha Tschetter of Pella, and her son Aiden. He is also survived by many extended family members.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his step-dad Jacob Tschetter and infant brother Kenneth.
