Kathleen “Kaye” Ann Hoerter was born June 15, 1939, to David and Vernie (Sanders) Horgan, in Mankato, Minnesota. Kaye was the fourth of six children born into the Horgan family.
Kaye grew up in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and was a graduate of Maria High School. She briefly attended nursing school.
On April 15, 1961, Kaye was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Hoerter, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Kaye and Bob were blessed with five children: James, Mary, John, Ann, and Jane.
Kaye lovingly stayed home to raise her and Bob’s five children. She also worked at St. Pius X Elementary School as a lunch lady and was an avid volunteer with her church (including Altar and Rosary Society, St. Irene Circle, and Cursillo) and in her community (Pro-Life advocate, local food kitchen, and with the elderly). Kaye served those around her by providing meals to those suffering loss, baking fresh bread and cookies for numerous seniors and neighbors, and by writing letters to family, friends, and others needing words of love and encouragement in difficult times.
Kaye’s faith shined through every day in her smile, her kind deeds, and her commitment to prayer and her family.
Those left to cherish Kaye’s memory are her husband Bob, their children: Father James Hoerter, of McLaughlin, South Dakota, Mary (Juan) Sanz, of Olathe, Kansas, John (Tina) Hoerter, of Salina, Kansas, Ann (Craig) Zachgo, of Wichita, Kansas, and Jane (Shawn Wick) Hoerter, of Pella, Iowa. Kaye is also survived by her siblings: Sr. Ancille Horgan, Ed (Myrna) Horgan, Carolyn (the late Tom) Ninneman, Ken (Maxine) Horgan, and the late Jim (Cynthia) Horgan. Kaye is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Those welcoming Kathleen into eternal rest include her mother and her father, two unborn children, her youngest brother, Jim, her brother-in-law, Tom, her sister-in-law, Judy, and one unborn grandchild.
