Marjorie Fae Boot was born January 13, 1925, on a farm near Otley, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank E. and Anna C. Rietveld Boot. Marjorie attended the Bunker Hill School in Marion County and graduated from Pella High School. She became a member of First Reformed Church, Pella.
Marj attended Central College for one year before starting her teaching career in country schools for seven years. She married Andrew S. Vos, son of Gerrit and Carrie Holtz Vos on August 12, 1947, at First Reformed Church, Pella. She became a member of Third Reformed Church after their marriage. Marjorie and Andrew were blessed with three children; Karen Sue, Helen Ruth and Gary Andrew.
When the children were all in grade school, Marj resumed her teaching career in Pella Community School, teaching sixth grade science, while continuing her college education at William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She retired in 1988 after completing 30 years of teaching.
Marjorie was a Sunday School teacher for many years, a member of several Bible study groups, a member of the Third Reformed quilting group, and a volunteer in the church nursery for 40 years. She was also a member and volunteer with the Pella Historical Society.
Marjorie was preceded in death by: her husband Andrew; parents, Frank and Anna (Rietveld) Boot; sister, Viola Helen and husband Robert Dickensheets; brother-in-law Nelson and Gertrude Vos and their sons David and Mark Vos; sisters-in-law Lucretia and husband Arnold Bogaard; and Evelyn and husband Mervin Trueblood.
