Marlene Jane Dahm was born February 6, 1937, to Henry “Bud” and Albina (Pavlis) Holleman, in Springfield, South Dakota. She passed away on April 26, 2019, at The Cottages in Pella.
Marlene grew up in Springfield where she attended grade school and high school. She then went to Central College in Pella where she received a two-year teaching certificate. While attending Central, she met James Dahm from Pella. They were united in marriage in Springfield, South Dakota, on July 29, 1958. They were blessed with three children: Jeffrey, Jane and Sara. In July of 2018 they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Marlene was an elementary school teacher in West Liberty, Iowa, while Jim attended dental school. She then became a stay-at-home mom and dedicated her time to nurturing and raising her children. She also enjoyed making a beautiful home and hosting holiday family get-togethers. Marlene was known for her kind and gracious spirit.
Marlene was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and working in the church library. This was a perfect fit for her since she was an avid reader. She encouraged faith in her family as she tucked her children in at night and shared bedtime prayers.
Marlene was blessed with eight grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and playing games with them. Her tender smile and gentle heart will be missed by her family and friends.
