Vernon Hoskins, 89, joined his wife in heaven on Monday, August 20, 2018, at the Cottages in Pella, IA.
Vernon was born in Salina, Kansas to Lydia (Schuber) and Paul Hoskins on November 16, 1928. He graduated from Brown-Mackie School of Business.
Vernon Hoskins and his high school crush, Rene Dugan, were married on June 5, 1954. They had two children: Stewart and Jan. With Vernon’s employment, International Multifoods Corporation, they lived in many cities across the U.S.: Kansas City, MO, Buffalo, NY, Davenport, IA, Minneapolis, MN, Appleton, WI. Vernon and Rene also lived in Rogers, AR, Winchester, KY and Pella, IA.
Those who will cherish his memory are: Stewart (Susan) Hoskins of Pella, IA and Jan (Phil) and December Milheiser of Winchester, KY; grandchildren: Jessica Hoskins of Orlando, FL; Nichole Hoskins of Iowa City, IA; Monica and (Josh) Zak & Paul and (Bailey) Milheiser of Winchester, KY; great-grandchildren: Carson and Addie Zak; Abram Milheiser of Winchester, KY.
His children believe he was the best dad they could wish for. That feeling extended to how his grandchildren feel about him. He was an upstanding example of conservative values, work ethic and kindness. When he retired, Vernon and Rene moved to Rogers, Arkansas, and found ways to help others by managing the church food bank and counseling.
Preceding Vernon in death were his parents, Lydia and Paul Hoskins, his brothers, Homer, Howard, Elmer and his wife, Rene.
