Filson Dean Newman, Freedom Fighter Filson, was born June 20, 2012, to Brian and Ashley (Dickey) Newman in Illinois.

Filson was always excited to attend school. He went to Madison Elementary and was transitioning to Pella Christian Grade School.

Filson loved Jesus and his family.  He was a kind, beautiful boy, who had a pure, loving heart. He lived a joy-filled life, whether it was singing, dancing, or going for walks with his siblings. Books and music were two of his favorite things. He loved watching any action sport, especially football. He deeply impacted the life of his family, classmates and his friends, and will be dearly missed.

Filson and his family are members of Grace Family Church in Ollie, Iowa.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents Brian and Ashley, his siblings: Oliver, Harvest, and Stanley, his grandparents: Daniel and Cindy Dickey of Packwood, and John and Vickie Newman of Sherman, Illinois, his uncles: Scott (Tiffany) Dickey, Grant (Morgan) Dickey, and Scott (Aline) Newman, and his cousins: Maggy, Keegan, and Maycee Dickey; Stella, Adeline, and Eloise Dickey; and Natalie and Carter Newman.
