Abraham (Abe) De Zwarte was born March 25, 1913, to Marinus and Jennie Goemaat De Zwarte south of Pella. He received his early education at the Pella Christian Grade School.
On May 9, 1934, Abraham was united in marriage with Jacoba Van Oenen at the First Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Pella. To this union four children were born: Marvin, Marilyn, Connie, and Linda. They made their home on the farm south of Pella for over twenty years. In 1953 he began working at the Pella Canning Company, retiring in 1987.
Abe was currently a member of the Covenant Reformed Church in Pella. His family was a very important part of his life and enjoyed visiting and spending time with them. He also enjoyed boating, bowling, cooking, and baking. He had a special passion for his cats.
Abe is survived by his four children and their spouses: Marvin and Mary De Zwarte of Pella, Marilyn and Gerald Van Sant of Tracy, Connie and Jerry Rowe of Pella, and Linda and Pat Brown of Knoxville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Cornelia Vander Ploeg of Otley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jacoba, on January 23, 2004; and one brother, Henry M. De Zwarte and his wife, Dorothy.
