Andrew Richard Hawkins was born on July 12, 1985, in Pella, Iowa. He passed away at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on May 1, 2025.

Andy attended school in the Pella Community School District and graduated in 2004. He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree at AIB Business College in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked at Wells Fargo for almost ten years before he experienced a medical set back in 2017.

On June 21, 2008, he was united in marriage to Christina Louwsma at Third Reformed Church in Pella. To this union, they were blessed with many Dachshunds and one ornery cat.

Andy participated in fostering, transporting, and rescuing over 36 dogs over the years. He was an avid spectator of the Iowa State Cyclones, Chicago Cubs, and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved collecting sport cards and reading up on the latest news. He loved training the rescue dogs and specifically ones that had debilitating issues.

Andy loved stand up comedy and was always known to crack several jokes. He had a witty sense of humor that always kept you on your toes!

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Christina, and his sister, Nikki Hawkins. Andy is also survived by his parents-in-law, Leon and Mary Louwsma, of New Sharon; his sister-in-law, Stacy (Erich) Crill; brother-in-law, Brian (Jodi) Louwsma; sister-in-law, Chelsea (Brandon) Abbas; grandfather, Perry Klein, Sr; grandmother-in-law, Arene De Jong; and many nieces and nephews.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Shellie Hawkins, and his grandparents and grandparents-in-law: Lorraine Hawkins, Irene Hawkins Mitchel, Carolyn Klein, Kenneth De Jong, and Ernest and Marilyn Louwsma.
