IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann
Veldhuis
February 18, 1931 – June 11, 2013
Ann Veldhuis, the daughter of Christoffel and Elizabet (PieketWeeserik) Slot, was born February 19, 1931, in Ede, Gelderland, Netherlands. She was educated and attended nurses training in the Netherlands.
In October of 1955 Ann immigrated to America where she joined her husband, Steve, in Alton, Iowa. He had been living with his parents, sister, and brother since 1953.
In June of 1957 their daughter, Sylvia Elizabeth, was born in Orange City, Iowa. In 1959 they moved to Holland, Michigan where Steve attended Hope College and Western Theological Seminary and Ann worked in the Holland City Hospital. In 1963 Steve graduated and they started working in their first church in Ireton, Iowa. Ann faithfully worked alongside Stephen in the ministry, including churches in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada, Knoxville, Iowa, Ackley, Iowa, and Ellsworth, Minnesota. Ann always loved working in church and enjoyed visiting people.
In 1994 Steve retired and they moved to Pella, Iowa to be close to their daughter, Sylvia, and grandsons, Jesses and Caleb, who she loved more than words can say.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen, her parents, her two brothers, and her son-in-law, Robert Uitermarkt.
