Ann Van Zee was born November 11, 1914, the oldest of eleven children born to Martin and Maggie (Stam) Tibboel, in Monroe, Iowa. She went home on July 11, 2016, from the Comfort House in Pella, at the age of 101.

Ann was united in marriage to Andrew P. Van Zee on December 30, 1947. They were blessed with two children Doris and Leon. Andrew and Ann lived near Prairie City where Andrew farmed and moved to Pella in 1964. Ann enjoyed being a homemaker, worked at Pella Corp., cleaned homes, and cooked at A & W. She also enjoyed reading, working word puzzles, and playing card games. A recent highlight to her life was to attend Governor Branstad's Centenarian Honors Reception in Des Moines with her grandchildren Lance and Tricia Van Zee, Lynette Stream and her sister and her husband Margaret and Stan Mulder.

Those left to honor her memory are her daughter and spouse Doris and Gene Mackey of Wortham, Texas, daughter-in-law and her spouse Lois and Bill Van Weelden, of New Sharon, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Margaret and Stan Mulder, sisters-in-law Martha Tibboel, Helen Tibboel and Ruth Tibboel, along with numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew on July 3, 1996, her son Leon on December 28, 1986, her parents Martin and Maggie Tibboel, sisters Cornelia and Tunis Verschuure, and Nellie and Jerry Rashell, and brothers Clarence in infancy, Frank and Erma, Gerrit and Martha, Harry and Cornelia, John, Ted, and Herman. She was also preceded in death by her husband's family: parents William and Dora (Buwalda) Van Zee, sisters-in-law: Gertrude and Guy Branderhorst, Wilma and Ernest Vogelaar, and brothers-in-law: Harold and Wilma Van Zee, Martin and Gertrude Van Zee.
