Anna Mae Vander Wiel was born near Otley, Iowa, on October 11, 1929. She was the fifth child born to Gerrit and Anna (Stam) Vander Wiel. Anna Mae was baptized in the Otley Christian Reformed Church. She attended the country school just east of Prairie City and graduated from the country school east of Vandalia, Iowa. She attended Prairie City High School. Her parents moved to Pella, Iowa, and she started working at Pella Corp., first in the plant and after a period of time, taking time off to care for her mother who died of cancer. Anna Mae returned to Pella Corp. and worked in the office in the computer department. She worked for Pella Corp. for 32 years.

Anna Mae was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church, later called Cornerstone Church. She gave her talents and time to teach Sunday school, starting the Gems program. She also spent ten years volunteering a week every summer for the mission project at Cary, Mississippi.

Anna Mae is survived by her nieces and nephews,who she loved and enjoyed very much: Melvin Vander Wiel, Marvin Vander Wiel, Barb Malda, Mary Bouwer, Scott Vander Wiel, Brenda Vander Wiel, Kurt Vander Wiel, Russ Vander Wiel, Robert Vander Wiel, and Lois Vander Wiel. She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews and her special friend Anne Bokhoven.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents Gerrit and Anna Vander Wiel, her brothers: Gerald Vander Wiel, Frank Vander Wiel, Henry Vander Wiel, Raymond Vander Wiel, and her sisters: Marjorie Keur, and Ruth Vander Wiel.
