Obituary

Annette Van Wyk was born August 21, 1949, to Benjamin and Alice (Ludema) Blauwkamp, in Zeeland, Michigan. Anne attended Beaverdam Christian School, and graduated from Unity Christian High School in Hudsonville, Michigan. She went on to attend Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for one year.

In 1974, she was in Cedar Rapids working with the SWIM team (Summer Workshop In Missions) at the Peace Christian Reformed Church where Ken's sister Luella was a member. Luella invited them both over for dinner and the romance began. On March 8, 1975, Annette married Kenneth Van Wyk, at the Beaverdam Christian Reformed Church, in Hudsonville, Michigan. Ken and Anne have one son Lucas Brent and two grandchildren Devyn and Sawyer.

In 1977 Ken and Anne moved to Otley, Iowa, where she worked as a postmaster. Annette also worked for Pella Regional Health Center as a CNA and was a janitor at Lincoln Elementary. She volunteered for many organizations as well.

While working in Otley, Anne went in one day and told them she wanted to quit to travel the world; which she and Ken did. They traveled to Alaska, Nicaragua, Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota, and also to the Noah's Ark Museum in Kentucky.  Anne was a former member of First Christian Reformed Church in Pella where she helped teach Sunday school, and currently attended Covenant Reformed Church.

Anne is survived by her son Lucas Van Wyk and his son Devyn and daughter Sawyer of Oskaloosa. Also surviving are her brothers: Joel, Cornelius, and Alvin; and her sisters-in-law: Luella (Van Wyk) and Clarence Van Englehoven, Carol (Van Wyk) and James Lillard, Shirley (Van Wyk) and Michael Masucci and many nieces and nephews.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents Ben and Alice Blauwkamp, her parents-in-law Laurens and Carrie Van Wyk, her siblings: her sisters Genevieve and Jean; her brother Bernard, and two brothers-in-law: John Henry and Laurens, Jr.
