Arietta graduated from Pella Christian High School in 1943, and was a member of the third graduating class. She earned her bachelor's degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Arietta retired in 1989, from F. Raniville Company/Tan – Tex Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she worked for 40 years as an office clerk. After retiring, she moved to California near Weimar in 1993, where she lived for four years. Following her years in California, she moved to Fair Haven West in August of 1997.
