Bertha McGriff Busby was born on November 18, 1927 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Oscar and Bena (Endersen) McGriff. She passed away at Hospice of Pella Comfort House Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at the age of eighty-five.

Bertha met Duane Busby on a blind date arranged by his cousin. The two were married on January 19, 1947, at the Methodist Church in New Sharon. To this union, two children were born: Harold Duane "Dee" II, and Kim.

She grew up in the New Sharon area and graduated from the New Sharon High School. She was very involved in her church, was a prayer warrior, and loved family life. She will always be remembered as a kind, loving, and nurturing person.

Those left to cherish Bertha's memory are: her daughter, Kim Busby, of New Sharon; her son, Harold Duane "Dee" Busby II, and his wife Sharon, of Mt. Pleasant; her grandchildren Mark Casey, Harold Duane (Jessica) Busby III, and Donald Jon (Nikki) Busby; and her great-grandchildren Hannah, Emma, and Isabella Busby.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of almost 63 years, Duane, in 2010.
