Obituary

Bertha Rozendaal was born January 30, 1919, to John and Johanna (Terlouw) Rowenhorst in rural Knoxville, Iowa. She passed away November 12, 2017, at the Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa.

Bertha graduated from Pella Community High School in 1936, and went on to take summer courses at UNI in Cedar Falls.  She taught school in Marion County rural schools for seven years.

On December 29, 1943, she was united in marriage to Jacob Rozendaal.  To this union they welcomed three children:  Norman, Bonnie and Phyllis. They made their home on a farm north of Otley where Bertha worked alongside Jacob for 37 years.  During their time on the farm, they attended Otley Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school.  Following retirement in 1980, they moved to Pella.  They became members of Trinity Reformed Church in 1982.  Some of her hobbies were gardening, flowers, reading and crafts with the Farm Bureau ladies.
