Obituary

Bettejo died at on Friday, February 5, 2016, at Comfort House Hospice in Pella Iowa. Bettejo the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Harken) Neymeyer, was the youngest of five children.

Bettejo was baptized in infancy at West Friesland church in Ackley, Iowa. She attended elementary school in Aplington, Iowa and graduated from Ackley High School. After graduation, she traveled with her sister Irene who had accepted a teaching position in Merced, California. Bettejo accepted a position as a circulation bookkeeper at the Merced Sunstar Daily News. She worked there for several years before returning to Iowa. In Cedar Falls she worked in the accounting department at Viking Pump Manufacturing. It was at this time that she met Rolin Knock, son of Harry and Lydia Knock. They were married on January 18, 1957. Bettejo became a dental assistant for Dr. RF Watson. She and Rolin were avid golfers, participating in events at Beaver Meadows, as well as in husband and wife tournaments at surrounding clubs.

Bettejo was known for her cooking, especially the gourmet meals and dessert she often shared with friends. Bettejo and Rolin were members of Bethel Lutheran church where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She was a member of Circle Mary and Bethel Lutheran Church women and served in various offices for the church. She and Jean Haylock were instrumental in bringing Girl Scouts and Brownies back to the Parkersburg area. She was a co-leader in both of these organizations. She also enjoyed painting with a group of seven on the Lawler's front porch. Quilting and jewelry making were also activities she enjoyed. One of her recent favorite activities was "fishing with her grandson Jack."

After Rolin's death she moved to Pella and transferred her church membership to Peace Lutheran Church in Pella, where she served on the caring committee. She became a volunteer at "Work of Our Hands" and the Pella Historical Society. She was a member of Welcome Friends and enjoyed their monthly Coffee and Lunch Bunch. She also helped with the blood drive and food pantry.

Bettejo is survived by three daughters and their spouses and children, Jonette Knock of Pella, Iowa; Robyn (Chris) Van Berkum of Pella, Iowa, and their children Cameron of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Brody of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Sarah (Jeff) Biedenbach of Marion, Iowa, and their children Noah Perkins of Iowa City, Iowa, and Tess Perkins and Jack Biedenbach at home. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law Stella Neymeyer and Genevieve Neymeyer , of Aplington, Iowa, and brother -in -law Reuben Estrada, Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Bettejo was preceded in death by her husband Rolin, one sister Irene Estrada, three brothers: Lester, Wayne, and Emery Neymeyer and a sister-in-law Norma Neymeyer.
