Charles Wendell Anderson was born on April 15, 1927, in Swedesburg, Iowa, to Herman and Florence Anderson. He graduated from the Olds High School in Olds, Iowa, and then from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Wendell married Janella "Jane" Reid on September 21, 1958, in Christiansburg, Iowa. They lived in the Ottumwa area, where Wendell worked from 1950 until 1973 for John Morrell and Company. In 1973, they moved to Milton, Florida, where Wendell worked as an accountant. In 1977, they returned to Iowa where Wendell worked as an accountant for Pella Corporation in Pella until his retirement in 1994. Wendell also served for a time in the United States Army.
Wendell was a member of the Berean Baptist Church in Pella. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. He loved vintage cars and was an Iowa Hawkeye fan. Wendell was an extremely kind and gentle man, well-liked by all who knew him. He always enjoyed his work experiences and was meticulous in his approach to all that he did.
Wendell passed away on October 17, 2014, at The Cottages in Pella, at the age of eighty-seven, following a brief illness.
Wendell is survived by his wife, Janella, of Pella, and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant child, his parents, his parents-in-law, his brother Kenneth Anderson, and his sister Margaret Nordquist.
