Carl R. Gray was born March 14, 1940, to Roy and Helene Gray, in rural Lancaster County, Ceresco, Nebraska. He passed away on September 25, 2018, at his home in Pella, Iowa. Carl graduated from University High School in Lincoln Nebraska, and the Faith Baptist Bible College, in Ankeny, Iowa. He was employed by Meadow Gold, State of Nebraska Department of Roads and retired from Pella Corporation, formerly known as Rolscreen Corporation. Carl served in the U.S. Army and the Iowa Air National Guard. He was also a former State of Iowa parole and probation officer. Carl was a member of the Stockyards Collectors Club, Iowa State Fair Volunteers, the Blue Ribbon Foundation, and the Willing Hands 4-H Club. He was a volunteer with the Iowa Republican Party. Carl was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa Iowa, and currently a member of the Berean Baptist Church in Pella. He loved the Lord and liked to travel.
Carl is survived by his sisters Rose Marie (Larry) Halvorsen of Unadilla, Nebraska, and Carol Ann Gray of Davey, Nebraska; his nephews Scott (Linda) Halvorsen of Syracuse, Nebraska, and Lee (Kasha) Halvorsen of Allen, Texas; his great and great-great nephews and nieces, his long-time friend Joyce Mattox of Pella; honorary grandchildren: Erin, Emily, Erica, and Lizzie Koonce, and Danielle and Cooper Mattox; and many other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene (Reinken) Gray, his parents Roy and Helene Gray, and great nephew Christopher Halvorsen.
