Obituary

Carl Weyers was born June 11, 1936, at the rural family home near Reasnor, Iowa. He passed away at the Pella Regional Health Center, Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the age of seventy-six.

When Carl was three years old the family moved to a farm near Newton. He attended Pilot Grove #5 School through the eighth grade.

On May 13, 1959, he was united in marriage with Marilyn Van Houweling at the First Reformed Church in Pella, Iowa. They lived on a farm outside of Newton until the fall of 1959, and then moved to a farm in rural Otley, where they currently resided. They were blessed with four children: Linda, Craig, David, and Bryan. Carl was employed at Winpower in Newton from 1954-1960. He then started farming in the Otley area until present.

He served his country with the Army Reserves from 1957 until 1964. He was a member of the New Hope Community Church in Pella where he served on the board. He was a Township Trustee and a board member of the FSA. Carl loved his family and farming. He was particularly happy when he could attend a farm auction.
