Carmen E. Millado was born on July 13, 1929, in Iloilo, the Philippines to Crispin and Asuncion (Mioten) Empedrado. She passed away on April 9, 2014, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
On July 3, 1958, Carmen was united in marriage with Eladio Millado in Manila, the Philippines. To this union, four children were born: Julia, Josie, Evelyn, and Will. Carmen and Eladio immigrated to the United States in March of 1989, and later they became citizens of this country. Carmen was employed at the A & W Restaurant from May of 1989 until 1995, and at the Central Park Café from 1995 until 1997.
Carmen enjoyed being a homemaker. Her family was important to her, and she was an affectionate mother and grandmother, always loving the time she could spend with her grandchildren. She was a good listener and gave good family advice. Carmen enjoyed shopping and reading, especially religious magazines. She was a humble and kind woman who lived a quiet and simple life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella.
Carmen is survived by her four children and her thirteen grandchildren. Her brothers, Antonio and Raul, and her sisters, Felisa, Meding, and Teresita, all of the Philippines, also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Eladio Millado in 2003, and by her siblings, Rosario and Rene.
