Carol Faye Fynaardt, daughter of George and Ann Zimmer, was born December 9, 1941, in Manhattan, Montana. She was a twin. She was baptized January 25, 1942, and made her Profession of Faith April 8, 1959, at Peoria Christian Reformed Church. Her family moved to Iowa when Carol was in 6th grade where she went on to graduate from Peoria Christian Grade School and Pella Christian High School. She married Melvin Fynaardt, August 30, 1961, at Peoria Christian Reformed Church. Carol's life was comprised of her faith, her family and cooking. She was a member of the Peoria Christian Reformed Church where she was involved in Bible Searchers and Queen Esther's Circle. Carol's life was one of service to those around her. Carol was blessed with the gift of playing the piano and shared that gift with others as she would go weekly to area nursing homes to play. Her favorite times were spent making meals and coffee time, whether it was for her husband, sons and grandsons when they were busy in the field or the banana bread in the shape of a can that each great grandchild received at every family celebration she attended.

Carol Fynaardt, 82, of Pella passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at The Cottages in Pella.

Carol is also survived by her sisters: Dona Fynaardt of Pella, Mary (Alvin) Runia of Melvin, Iowa and Lois (James) Vander Woude of Franklin, North Carolina; and sisters-in-law: Marge Fynaardt of Pella, and Carolyn (Bill Heethuis) Van Zee of Caledonia, Michigan.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband Melvin, siblings: twin brother Charles and his wife Ruth Zimmer, sister Joyce and her husband Kenneth Beyer, and an infant brother George John; siblings-in-law: Leo Fynaardt, Leland and Edna Fynaardt, Kenneth Fynaardt, Allen Van Zee; and her parents-in-law Tunis and Jacoba Fynaardt.
