Carol Jean Laughlin was born June 14, 1952, to Robert Allen and Donna Lou (McNeil) Lynde in Cherokee, Iowa.

On August 25, 1973, she was united in marriage to Leo Joseph Laughlin in Washington, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with three children: Christopher, Michelle, and Sherri.

Carol dedicated her life to education and teaching. She was always learning about teaching both for schools and church. She taught in the public schools for 22 years, and was the director of religious education at St. Mary's Catholic Church for 22 years where she received many awards. Carol was giving of herself and her time and always put others first.

Carol was preceded in death by her mother Donna Lou Lynde.
