Charly Beyer, son of Gerrit and Gertie (Slycord) Beyer, was born November 20, 1923, in Taintor, Iowa. He passed away at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the age of eighty-seven.

On May 29, 1950, Charly was united in marriage with Elotia Myers at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Charly and Elotia raised four children: Loren, Steven, Lynda, and Jackie. The family lived near Lynnville prior to moving to Sully.

Charly attended the Fleming Country School through the eighth grade. He then started farming in the Lynnville/Taintor area, which he continued to do for fifty-three years. Charly and Elotia had been members of the Taintor United Methodist Church and currently were members of the First Reformed Church in Sully.

Those left to cherish his memory are his four children: Loren Beyer of Sully, Steven Beyer and his wife Jocelyn of Sully, Lynda and her husband Carroll Miller of Prairie City, and Jackie Heppe of Marion; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Deanna Greene, Shaun Greene, Tim Greene, Travis Miller, Chad Beyer and his wife Laura and their daughter Olivia, Angela Beyer, Jamie Beyer, Kristal Beyer, Stephanie Heppe, Joshua Heppe, and Jacob Young; his brother Carrol Beyer of Searsboro; and his sister, Arlene Brand of Sully.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Elotia, in 2006; his parents, Gerrit and Gertie Beyer; parents-in-law, Russell and Edna Myers; grandparents; sisters: Dorothy Van Zee and Mary Stewart; and granddaughter, Jennifer Greene.
