Clarence Van Eden was born to Gysbert and Ella (Goemaat) Van Eden on January 2, 1939, on the original Goemaat homestead, south of Pella.
He attended Pleasant Grove country school and Pella High School. In 1955 he started working for Rolscreen and retired from Pella Corporation as a painter in 1990.
Speed enjoyed collecting antiques; tractors and Griswald; listening to country music, and visiting with people. He never knew a stranger.
Speed is survived by his loving companion, Magdeline Van Weelden; his beloved pet, Molly; several cousins and their wives; Magdeline's children and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses and great- grandchildren.
