Garden Chapel and Van Dyk Duven Funeral Homes Join Together to Continue Serving the Area
Two family-owned funeral homes with deep roots in the Pella area are coming together.
Garden Chapel Funeral Home has merged with Van Dyk Duven Funeral Home, bringing two families who have spent generations caring for local families as one partnership — while continuing the same commitment to personal, compassionate service that the communities have come to know and trust.
For both Garden Chapel and Duven, caring for people has always been at the heart of what they do. This next chapter allows that care to continue — together.
The connection between the two funeral homes is personal for Garden Chapel owner Mark Van Roekel. As a young man, Mark recalls his own grandparents' passing, and his family was served by Roger Duven and Justin Hillman. Mark remembers the care and compassion shown to his family during that difficult time. That experience stayed with him.
When Mark later began serving families through Garden Chapel, he sought to model that same kind of genuine care in his own work. Today, the opportunity to bring these two family-owned funeral homes together is especially meaningful.
So, what does this look like for families?
Mark Van Roekel will continue serving the area and its families as a funeral director and owner of Garden Chapel Van Dyk Duven Funeral Homes.
Roger Duven will still be a familiar face, available to assist families at services, along with Mark Van Rees. Justin and Leah Hillman will be stepping back from their day-to-day roles.
Helping families as a funeral director and monument design and memorialization is Jennafer Uitermarkt Rozendaal.
And for those who wish to plan ahead and pre-arrange their funeral, Auburn Van Kooten will continue meeting with families by appointment.
The location on Main Street will remain equipped and available for funeral and celebration services, while the Duven facility will be renovated for receptions and celebrations.
Most importantly, families can expect the familiar faces, personal relationships, and compassionate care they have always valued — the same level of service, enhanced!
This is not simply one funeral home replacing another. It is one family-owned funeral home joining with another family-owned funeral home, bringing together years of experience, relationships and a shared desire to serve the communities well.
Two families. Two histories. One shared commitment to caring for yours.
Our funeral home looks forward to continuing to serve Pella and the surrounding communities.
