Cora Jansen was born October 9, 1916, to Kors and Jennie (Nikkel) Harthoorn, near Lynnville, Iowa. She passed away on January 27, 2018, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell, Iowa.
Cora attended country school near Lynnville and lived in the Lynnville – Sully area her entire life.
On July 19, 1938, she was united in marriage to Henry Jansen at the Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Sully. Together they made their home on the farm and were blessed with five children: Marjorie, Don, Thelma, Jan, and Gene.
She was a member of Sully Christian Reformed Church and active in the Lydia Society sewing days.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Don and Karen Jansen of Lynnville, son-in-law Glenn Vanderpol, and daughter Jan and Ryk De Goey of Sully; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Ernestine Dieleman, of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, her children: Marjorie Jansen, Thelma Vanderpol and Gene Jansen; her siblings: Francis, Cornelia, Case, Jennie, and Dorothy; and three infant great granddaughters.
