Obituary

Dale La Verne Bogaards son of Leslie and Jennie Marie (Vos) Bogaards, was born August 9, 1935, on a farm northwest of Pella, Iowa. He passed away on January 4, 2025, at The Cottages in Pella.

Dale attended Bunker Hill and Flint Ridge grade school. In 1944, the family moved northeast of Pella, now the Bogaards family farm. He graduated from Pella High School in 1953, then worked on the farm with his Dad, and was in the Army National Guard Reserves.

On November 27, 1959, Dale married Gladys Van Peursem, daughter of Lester and Dena (Boertje) Van Peursem, at the Reformed Church in Prairie City, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with three children: Brenda, Glenda and Dennis.

He farmed five miles east of Pella until 1965, then moved to K. Vander Wall farm which was just west of Dale's folks' farm. In 1968, they moved to the home place. They enjoyed farming together. Gladys helped with fieldwork and many things that needed to be done on the farm. In 1996, they moved to 412 Franklin Street in Pella. Dale continued to farm with son Dennis who moved to the home place, as long as Dale was able he would drive to the farm and help out whenever he could.

Dale and Gladys enjoyed traveling, camping, riding bikes, and walking. They had fun with friends on many antique tractor rides. They also enjoyed making puzzles, spending time with family and grandkids was always great. They had lots of good memories going to their sports and music activities.

Dale was a faithful member of the Third Reformed Church where he served as deacon and elder. He also served on the Co-op board and enjoyed attending farm meetings, farm shows and sales.

Dale was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Always liked to talk about farming and how to make things work easier, and tinkering in the shop was a hobby.
