Daniel Arthur Rothfuss was born May 3, 1956, to Arthur and Alta (Lint) Rothfuss, in Vinton, Iowa.

Daniel was a 1974 graduate of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, a 1978 Cum Laude graduate of Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, and received his M.D. in 1982 at Indiana University School of Medicine. He was a general doctor at Indiana Reformatory from 1982 to 1984, then a resident physician in Radiation Oncology from 1984 – 1988. Dan also served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1986 – 1994 as a part-time doctor doing physicals. In 1988 he joined a private practice as a Radiation Oncologist at the Reading Hospital in Pennsylvania, then moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1990, followed by a move to Ottumwa, Iowa, in 1993, where he served as Medical Director of Radiation Oncology. In 2016 he retired due to his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

On June 6, 1986, he was united in marriage to Linda Choat-Vaughn in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Daniel was an avid sports fan! He loved hiking, dogs, history and politics, reading, spending time with grandchildren , and traveling with Linda to New England in the fall and Florida in the winter. It was Dan’s hope to be remembered as a kind, gentle, generous man who loved his family and his Lord, Jesus Christ.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Linda, son Jason (Donna Cox) Vaughn, grandchildren: Trevor, Wyatt, Sierra, Reagan, Collin, and Lauryn, Mother Alta Rothfuss, sister Deborah (Joseph) Wisham living in Vietnam, sisters-in-law: Rebecca Sweeney, Peggy Bickel, Sandy Hobson, and his nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Rothfuss, his parents-in-law John Choat and Sue Lilly, and his brother-in-law Donald (Judy) Richardson.
