IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel
Sorensen
November 19, 1957 – October 3, 2024
Daniel Jay Sorensen was born November 19, 1957, to Hans and Marla (Brouwer) Sorensen, in Primghar, Iowa.
Dan attended schools in Paullina, Iowa, and was a 1976 graduate of Paullina High School. He went on to get his degree from Northwestern College.
On June 3, 1978, Dan married Marveen Mews, his high school sweetheart, in Meridan, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Tara, Jill and Michael.
Dan recently retired from Third Church after 17 years. He previously worked for Pella Corp.
The best way to describe Dan was a family man. Each decision he made was through the lens of faith and family. Dan was very intentional with the ways he loved and showed up for people. Dan was a hardworking man who was humble in his achievements. He was the first person many people went to for encouragement and wisdom. Dan enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, running, cheering on the Chicago Bears, listening to and singing The Beatles' songs, going for drives in his Mustang with his wife, Sudoku, and drinking coffee (always black coffee). But his absolute favorite things to do were spending time reading his Bible and spending time with his family. The annual Florida spring break trip was always the highlight of his year.
Although he is no longer with us, the impact Dan has made on so many lives will live on forever.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Marveen and their family:
Tara (Dustin) Kraft, Pella, Iowa
Hayden, Jackson, Kristian
Jill (Matt) Gronewold, Cedar Falls, Iowa
Duncan, Sloane
Michael (Jamie) Sorensen, North Liberty, Iowa
Camden, Emmett
Dan is also survived by his brother Bob (Yolanda) Sorensen of Evanston, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hans and Marla Sorensen.
