Delmar Lee Wichhart was born June 18, 1943, to Adam and Jeanette (Klein) Wichhart, in Pella, Iowa.  He was a 1962 graduate of Pella Community High School.

On August 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to Patricia Kay Van Vliet in Pella. To this union they were blessed with three children: Jeffery Lee, Kimberly Sue and Barbara Lynn.

Delmar was a carpenter and facilities manager for Central College for over 30 years. He was passionate about his hobbies and his family.  Delmar enjoyed caring for his horses and animals. You may have seen him in Tulip Time parades with his horses and carriage. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors; four-wheeling with his brothers, and camping at the Iowa State Fair and in Arkansas. He was known for his jokes, dry sense of humor, and sharing his opinion.

Delmar is also survived by his siblings: Harold Wichhart of Tavares, Florida, Melvin Wichhart of Tracy, Iowa, and David Wichhart of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents Adam and Jeanette Wichhart, and  parents-in-law John "Sage" and Katy Van Vliet.
