Obituary

Dennis Lee Renaud was born September 14, 1953, to James and Gladys (Elscott) Renaud in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Dennis was a 1971 graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School and he went on to graduate from Ellsworth Community College.

On November 14, 1975, he was united in marriage to Melanie Baarda in Sully. To this union they were blessed with three daughters: Sheila, Tasha and Keisha.  In 1985 he started Renaud Feed Center, Inc. that he owned and operated for 37 years. He loved his employees, his customers, his business, and driving his truck. His passion for his business kept him working until recently.

Dennis loved his wife and family well. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and his kids' and grandkids' sports. Dennis loved basketball. He played in high school, college and in rec leagues for years. He enjoyed farming part-time with his dad. Dennis enjoyed family vacations, especially a trip to Hawaii for their 30th wedding anniversary. Dennis was diagnosed with neuroendocrine metastatic cancer in 2012. He was an amazing example of perseverance! He had a strong faith and was the "eternal optimist."

Dennis accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized at a young age.  He was an active member of First Reformed Church in Sully, where he was a Sunday school teacher, elder, deacon, and youth group leader.

He kept his determination and his sense of humor up until the very end, and now he is cancer-free in the presence of Jesus for eternity.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Melanie and their family:

Sheila and Kyle Punt, Pella

Chloe, Caleb, Cameron, Clara, Cailyn

Tasha and Jared Yepsen, Norwalk

Braxton, Keaton, Benton

He is also survived by his siblings: Elaine (Arie) Scholten of Sully, Keith (Glenda) Renaud of Lynnville; his sisters-in-law: Nancy Renaud of Grinnell, and Nancie Renaud of West Des Moines; his parents-in-law Marvin and Iva Baarda of Sully; his brothers-in-law: Craig (Sheryl) Baarda of Grinnell, and Rick (Debbie) Baarda of New Sharon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his daughter Keisha in infancy, his parents James and Gladys Renaud, and his brothers LaVerne Renaud and Marvin Renaud.
