Doris Lucille Hendricks was born December 20, 1934, to Robert Melvin and E. Lucille (Heishman) May, on the family farm, northeast of Grinnell, Iowa. She grew up in the Grinnell area and was a 1952 graduate of Grinnell High School.

On February 14, 1964, she was united in marriage to Lee Hendricks at the Sheridan Methodist Church in Malcom, Iowa.  They were blessed with one son, Blair. Doris was a farm wife, and cleaned at Pella Corp from 1994 to 2010, when she retired to care for Lee. Doris enjoyed going to craft shows, arranging flowers, and recipe magazines and books.

Doris went to her Heavenly Home Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, Iowa, at the age of eighty-seven.  She is survived by her son, Blair, of Reasnor; her sister-in-law Theda May, of Grinnell, and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Lee in 2013, her parents, and her brother Robert May in 2007.
