Dorothy Marie Conover was born on December 7, 1928 to Kors and Jennie (Nikkel) Harthoorn on the family farm north of Lynnville, Iowa. She passed away early on the morning of Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of seventy-nine.

Dorothy attended the Black Oak Country School where she completed the eighth grade. She worked at Sjaardema's Grocery and Meredith Grocery prior to her marriage.

On June 24, 1955 Dorothy was united in marriage with Charles Conover at the Sully Christian Reformed Church. To this union three children were born: Wes, Carolyn, and Bonita.

Dorothy enjoyed her homemaking duties- taking care of her home and family. Later she worked at Casey's, Enduro, and was a cook at the Sully Christian School. She retired in May of 2008.

She was a member of the Sully Community Church where she taught Sunday School and worked in the nursery. She enjoyed gardening, loved flowers of all kinds, canning, following her grandchildrens' activities, and spending time with family.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband, Chuck; and her three children and their spouses: Wes and Jan Conover of Sully, Carolyn and Dale Rolffs of Sully, and Bonita and Curt Jansen of Newton; eight grandchildren: Chad (Beth) Conover, Anna (Darin) Arkema, Jenna (Brad) Chamra, Alaina (Kennan) Archer, Trent Rolffs, Natasha Jansen, Shawn Jansen, and Ryan Jansen; two great-grandchildren: Brooke and Will Conover; three sisters: Cora Jansen, Jennie Stravers, Ernestine Dieleman; and one sister-in-law: Nellie Harthoorn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Willie in infancy; her brother, Cornelius; and her sisters: Francis and Cornelia.

Dorothy will be missed by her family and her many friends.
