Douglas Craig Van Den Berg was born August 1, 1948, to Harry C. and Sarah Ann (Ver Heul) Van Den Berg, in Newton, Iowa.  He passed away on August 3, 2020, in Pella.

Doug attended Otley School through sixth grade, and was a 1967 graduate of Pella High School. He worked for Per Mar Security as a guard at Pella Corp, and was promoted to sergeant. In August 1994, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Canterbury University.  Doug was a Summit Township Trustee from 2007 to present, and on the board of the Iowa Numismatic Association. He was a self-taught computer wizard until a stroke left him paralyzed in 2015. Doug was cared for at home by his loving brother and sister. He liked to mow and cut branches with his chainsaw. He always had to be the last neighbor to mow for the season. Doug always said, "I'm my own man."

Doug is survived by his sister Sharon Van Den Berg and his brother Stanley Van Den Berg of Otley.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Sarah Van Den Berg.
